In business, this is called a tagline. Well maybe that's the technical term for it, but in my work, I strive hard to make it a reality. I don't just "take pictures." For instance, I may spend time researching and creating a scene to make for a session I have in mind. This may mean, countless trips to Home Depot to create a "look I am going for". It may involve painting and a miter saw and a dremmel. It may mean testing models for an upcoming shoot. Then there is the time thinking about poses, subject position and of course professional lighting. There is the shoot time itself. Then the next phase, which I really enjoy, and that is editting, retouching, enhancing and production of the work. There is nothing greater than taking an idea from fruition to reality.
When I took my first art class in college I thought, wow! This is going to be fun an easy. I found out that only one of those things is true. It is fun but it is not easy. When my friends where out having fun on the weekend I was pulling together the elements of a project for an artclass. This sort of project to project with deadlines, fit my type A personality well. I quite often left the darkroom at midnight. Did I regret it? No, otherwise I would have found another way to make a living.
